Flash Slideshows Making a Comeback

The resurrection of Christ’s body from the tomb demonstrates God’s concern for redeeming the material and the spiritual--body and soul.  He is concerned not only for the proclamation of the gospel, but also for the care of the impoverished, the hungry, and the weak.  James echoes this high priority on the ministry of mercy (James 1:27).

Just as Job was known at the city gate as one that delivered the poor, the fatherless, and the widow (Job 29:12-13), so we desire to adorn the gospel the same way. We must work for the eternal and common good and show our neighbors we love them sacrificially whether they believe as we do or not. Indifference to the poor and disadvantaged means there has not been a true grasp of our salvation by sheer grace.  In light of this reality, the New Hope Community is involved in the following ministries, among others.

Rest Homes:  On the fourth Sunday of each month we conduct services in two elderly care facilities, The New Albany Gardens and Care Center and Summerville at Chestnut Hill.

Community Garden:  The Lord has graciously given us enough property that we can plow up a portion of our “back forty” and offer it to neighbors in small garden plots.

The Salvation Army:  Church members enjoy helping, especially at Christmas, with food and gift distribution to needy families in the greater Columbus area.

Faith Mission:  The organization reaches out to the poor and displaced in our community by offering food and a roof over the head.

Goodwill:  Goodwill volunteers offer their services to help neighbors with everything from yard chores to trips to the grocery store.
