The Deaconate is charged with the oversight of the operational budget of the church. They are responsible for the administrative and financial aspects of the ministry. The Deaconate performs a function very much like that of those who were chosen in Acts 6 to relieve the apostles so they could give themselves fully to study and prayer. The group is made up of several members of the congregation who are knowledgeable in various areas of expertise. They are ultimately accountable to the elders and the congregation. The meetings are open and church members or adherents are encouraged to attend. A servant-like spirit, humility, and open communication are the keys to building and maintaining trust between the elders, deacons, and congregation.
