New Hope Bible Church family in 1998
New Hope Bible Church began in the fall of 1997
when a group of families united to form a new,
non-denominational church on the northeast side of
Columbus, Ohio. They came from a variety of
personal and professional backgrounds, but they all
shared a common vision to establish a vibrant
ministry in one of central Ohio's fastest growing areas.
New Hope initially met for Sunday morning worship
in the New Albany Elementary School and in our homes on
Sunday evenings and during the week. During those first six months, we
focused on developing a core group of people who were united in philosophy of ministry and beliefs.
By the summer of 1998, God provided us with a piece of property that included a small meeting facility and a home for our pastor. After renovating the structure into a usable church sanctuary, the site was dedicated that October.
In the two years that followed, New Hope began to grow, both spiritually and numerically, while focusing on key biblical essentials such as establishing church leadership, understanding spiritual discipleship, and growing an authentic church community. During that time, two men from our church family were selected to serve as elders alongside the pastor, and a steering committee was appointed to oversee the operational affairs of the church.
In an effort to promote unity in our corporate and personal growth, we began to emphasize the need to build "redemptive relationships" as a church family, investing time, energy and resources into the ministry and into each other. We implemented that desire not only within the church but also with missionary families, community leaders, neighbors, and friends.
Today, we are just beginning to see some of our hard work at laying a good foundation pay off. God has seen fit to bless our fellowship with new Christians, earnest disciples, and mature believers.
In the fall of 2000, we established a new mid-week ministry called HEART Groups (Home, Encouragement, Accountability, Relationships, Teaching). These small-group fellowships have played a vital role in helping our church family establish lasting personal and spiritual relationships.
We now seek God's will for the future of New Hope Bible Church. In 2001, He allowed us to purchase approximately 10 acres of land on
State Route 161 just east of New Albany. We expanded the ministry and outreach of New Hope as we began meeting in the new facilities
at that location in 2005.
